Because it’s just steps from your front door, why not start with the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, a 4 mile paved path where you can walk, bike, roller skate and even cross-country ski in the winter.┬áIf you head west on the Trail, toward New Paltz, you’ll cross the Black Creek Wetlands Complex where you can stop to fish, picnic or just enjoy the beautiful views of Illinois Mountain. Heading east on the Trail, you will quickly find yourself at the Walkway Over the Hudson, a 1.28 mile elevated pedestrian bridge that spans the Hudson River, offering some of the most spectacular views in the Empire State. Before crossing the bridge, stop for lunch at the Walkway Cafe or an ice cream at Frozen Caboose. Both are located right on the Rail Trail by the entrance to the Walkway. Visit the Walkway

With direct access from Mountainside Woods, the Illinois Mountain trail system includes over 5.5 miles of forested trails and switchbacks, ranging from easy to moderate for hikers and moderate to difficult for bikers.
